-TUMS-ISRC MIDTERM ELECTIONS
On October 11, 2023, the TUMS’ International Students Representative Council (TUMS-ISRC) held its midterm elections, filling the vacant positions left by graduating students. Candidates had been invited to apply for various roles, including finance, female dorms, public relations officer, male dorms, basic sciences, and international college. After undergoing a rigorous vetting process and one-on-one interviews with Dr. Asna Ashari, eight out of eleven applicants were selected as official candidates.
The official candidates embarked on their campaigns, seeking support from the TUMS student body. The elections took place on October 11, 2023, from 11 am to 3 pm, at multiple locations, including the Hojjat Dost Building, Mousavi's Boys dormitory, Ahmadi Girls dormitory, Koy-e-Daneshgah Girls dormitory, Nargis Girls Dormitory, and Dameshq Girls dormitory.
The following candidates competed for the respective positions:
Public Relations Officer:
1. Zarqa (MD)
2. Syeda Narjis Zahra Baqri (MBBS)
Female Dorms Representative:
3. Shezray Mahnoor Mannan (DDS)
Male Dorms Representative:
4. Syed Turab Ali (BDS)
5. Syed Abid Ali Amjad (BDS)
International College Representative:
6. Muhammad Shahnawaz (MBBS)
Basic Sciences Representative:
7. Syed Sarim Hussain Rizvi (MBBS)
Finance Representative:
8. Khushbu (MBBS)
With the invaluable assistance of wardens, staff, and the TUMS-ISRC Election Committee, the elections were successfully conducted, attracting a commendable turnout of 238 students from all locations. The results were eagerly awaited, and on Sunday, October 15, 2023, the winners were announced.
We are delighted to unveil the victors of the TUMS-ISRC Election. Congratulations to the following individuals on their well-deserved triumphs in their respective positions:
Public Relations Officer:
- Zarqa - Secured 50.4% of the votes
Male Dorms Representative:
- Syed Abid Ali Amjad - Secured 62% of the votes
Female Dorms Representative:
- Shezray Mahnoor - Acquired 86.8% "Yes" votes
Finance Representative:
- Khushbu - Acquired 81% "Yes" votes
Basic Sciences Representative:
- Syed Sarim Hussain Rizvi - Acquired 90% "Yes" votes
International College Representative:
- Muhammad Shahnawaz - Acquired 93.4% "Yes" votes
Once again, heartfelt congratulations to all the newly elected representatives on their remarkable achievements. We extend our gratitude to all the candidates, voters, and staff members for their active participation throughout the election process.
